Who we are, where we are
and what we do!

Emperors is located in the heart of historic York and, as you would expect, has a unique history of its own. Long before becoming the Citys premier fitness centre, the building was actually a functioning wood mill. Taking deliveries of timber from the forests of Northern Europe via the river Ouse the wood was cut to measure and sold to local builders, joiners and carpenters. If you live in a 19th Century house in York, chances are the wood within it was at some stage shipped out of our front door!

 

 

 

Today the old sawmill has been completely renovated to house the Emperors Health Club and our fitness equipment. But it still hangs on to it's history with a sympathetic restoration that sees the building keeping many of its original features and endearing character. With state-of-the-art cardiovascular machines, the latest resistance machines, an impressive array of free-weights, a wide range of exercise classes, a swimming pool, male and female saunas, and a beauty and massage salon, we are totally confident that we have not only the best looking health club in Yorks historical city walls but also the best equipped.
